Cool New OS X Game

Big Bang ChessFreeVerse recently released a new freeware game called Big Bang Chess. I was never a fan of FreeVerse games (feel too 'Carbon-ish', some weak graphics, etc) but this new game really changed my opinion. The graphics and OpenGL effects in it are very well-done and beautiful. It's one of the most OS X-like game I've seen next to Stratéges, iConquer, JewelToy, and few others.

The only thing I don't like about it is, of course, weak App Icon :)

If you're on Mac OS X 10.3, give it a try.

Glad you like it. :) And we may replace the icon at some point, I'm not sure how recognizable it is.

I agree.. this is indeed a very beautiful game, and very nice. But while it runs beautifully on my iMac 800mhz, it runs like crap on my 600 mhz iBook. The graphics suck on lowest quality (blurry and pixelated), the mouse cursor stuttors and flickers in and out, it's very difficult to even pick up and move pieces, etc. Too bad!

A big "wow" at your Stratéges work.. Utterly beautiful work there.

It's nice to see another good looking OS X game.. :)

I think it may be a graphics card difference xpander? Mine is 8mb. What about yours?
