Stattoo is pretty cool even though it’s basically feature-less at this time. I like it over Konfabulator. Here’s what I like/dislike about Stattoo:
Pros:
- Better consistency (same skin, preferences panes)
- Very OS X-like
- Icons that actually look nice and make sense
- Interface-wise, it makes more sense (everything in one row)
- Stattoo’s few included stattooes are pretty useful
Cons:
- Background color is weak. White text with shadow on a light background doesn’t work that well
- Icons on top-left corner feel a little awkwarding
- Very limited customization for each stattooes
- Cannot change skin to something of your liking
I like that you can’t click on it from anywhere, meaning you can work right on top of Stattoo without moving or altering it.
If you find that white text with shadow on a light background doesn’t work that well, you can change the text color in the prefs…
Yeah, I’ve tried that but the problem is that if you turn the text color to black, it’ll look blurry because of the black shadow.
The background color should be black with medium opacity instead of white. The perfect example would be something like Bezels in OS X 10.3
