Everyone will have to deal with rejection at some point and here’s my second rejected icon design from the past.

Salling Clicker is a remote control utility preference pane to turn a compatible mobile phone or PDA into an advanced wireless two-way remote control for your Mac.
Reason for rejection: Unsure. After one revision, client pulled a Batman with smoke screen.
Rejection in choice of four great flavor:
The “You Suck” rejection.
The “We don’t like you” rejection.
The “It wasn’t me” rejection.

What icon did they end up going with instead?
I’m not sure, I think they sticked with old icon which were cutout photo of cellular photo resized to 32×32.
I didn’t track the product to see if they went with other icon, I’m not a stalker ;)
I recently designed an icon for a company’s DJ Application, and they went as far as purchasing, for an added cost, the Illustrator files from me.
I checked their site the other day and noticed that they totally murdered the design. Makes me wonder why they even wanted to pay to have someone create an idea and design for them.
I guess that is some other sort of weird rejection.
Ouch that’s even worse.
I don’t mind any clients taking my artworks and change them as long as it isn’t anything major.
well I guess when the client pays for the source file he can do what he wants… I for one chose NOT to show such “after modded” icons off on my site.
Agreed. I don’t show the moddified designs either. I just act as if it never happened. :)
I for one have made a few designs for some company, even one for the BBC iPlayer website and they totally killed my design and re-made it. I still made a nice profit from it though.
